What Claude says changed

The Claude account (@claudeai) posted at 17:32 UTC on 29 October 2026 that the Claude mobile apps received a few upgrades this week. The change written in the present tense is a layout change. On iPad and iPhone Duo, what Claude makes now opens beside the chat instead of over it, and that beside-the-chat view goes full screen when you want a closer look. The posts leave app version, operating-system minimum, price, plan, region, and the control for full screen unnamed.

“What Claude makes” is the account’s phrase for the output. The post does not list file types, and it does not say that every reply uses the side view. “iPhone Duo” is also the account’s wording. The post does not define Duo as a separate phone, a display mode, or a setting.

Three seconds later the same account posted a separate note. Pull down to search is coming soon on iPhone and iPad. That post does not repeat “Duo,” and it does not say search is available now. Claude said the search can find a past chat or project, jump to any setting, or act on a chat from the results. Those are the only three result actions named.

Who the posts are for

The side-by-side note is for people on iPad and iPhone Duo. Claude describes that layout as already in place.

The search note is for people on iPhone and iPad. Claude still marks that search as coming soon, and the note does not use “Duo.” These posts name only those Apple devices, so they leave Android and other Claude clients unaddressed.

How to try it from what was posted

On iPad and iPhone Duo, Claude describes the side view as what happens now when Claude makes something: it opens beside the chat, and it goes full screen when you want a closer look. The practical check is to open a chat on those devices and see whether what Claude makes sits beside the thread.

Search is described only as pull down to search, and only as coming soon on iPhone and iPad. These posts do not give a switch to turn on.

The Claude Code changelog is a log of Claude Code releases. On the 29 October 2026 check, notes from version 2.1.312 (27 October 2026) through the opening of version 2.1.296 (9 October 2026) do not describe this beside-the-chat view or pull-down search. Other mobile-app lines in that window include version 2.1.311 (26 October 2026), which says messages Claude sends to a cloud or Remote Control session were fixed so they no longer appear as your own message in the Claude mobile apps, and version 2.1.301 (15 October 2026), which says pages Claude writes now paint the band above a sticky header so scrolled text no longer shows there in the mobile apps, and that in VS Code and the desktop and mobile apps a tree drawn above the question dialog can hold Markdown and up to 48 rows. Those lines cover other behavior. They leave the side-by-side view and pull-down search undescribed.

What is still open

The account’s “few upgrades” appear here as two notes. One is present tense: on iPad and iPhone Duo, what Claude makes opens beside the chat and can go full screen. The other is still ahead: pull-down search on iPhone and iPad. Anything else from that week is unnamed in these posts.

“This week” is the timeframe of the 29 October 2026 post. “Coming soon” gives search no calendar date. Both notes are the Claude account’s description. They stand apart from a trial of the iPhone or iPad app and from a Claude Code release.

Sources and editorial approach

This article relies on two posts from the Claude account (@claudeai) on 29 October 2026: the mobile-app note at 17:32:41 UTC and the search note at 17:32:44 UTC. The Claude Code changelog on code.claude.com was checked the same day, from version 2.1.312 (27 October 2026) through the opening of version 2.1.296 (9 October 2026). Those notes do not describe the side-by-side view or pull-down search. Mobile-app lines in that span include a message fix in version 2.1.311 and, in version 2.1.301, an artifact sticky-header fix and mod trees that can hold Markdown. Older changelog entries were not covered. No App Store listing, mobile release note, or hands-on trial of the iPhone or iPad app was included. The posts do not state a price, plan limit, app version, or operating-system minimum.
