What Personal Finance does

On 5 November 2026 Anthropic introduced Personal Finance. You connect the bank and card accounts you choose and ask in your own words. Claude answers from those balances and transactions and can explain an unfamiliar term. Access is read-only, and Personal Finance cannot move, manage, or invest your money. Like the rest of Claude, Anthropic says it has no ads or sponsored recommendations, and it does not offer credit cards, loans, or savings accounts of its own.

Anthropic's walkthrough starts late in the month, with payday still 10 days away. Asking where the money went this month totals $4,309.37, with more than half to rent and utilities and $1,024.51 to food and drink. Follow-ups in that walkthrough compare earlier months and point to a membership renewal. The walkthrough shows $1,393.22 left after four checking payments before payday. Anthropic says Claude can be wrong, so ask which transactions sit behind a number and check important figures with your bank. Personal Finance is for understanding your money, and it is not designed to give investment advice.

Anthropic also says Claude can point to double charges, unexpected fees, or a bill that rose over the year, explain an APR, and add up the interest charged on connected accounts. You can ask for a weekly spending chart, a calendar of what is due, or a dashboard of numbers you choose, and keep adjusting what Claude builds.

Who gets the beta

Anthropic says the beta starts rolling out this week on the Claude Pro, Max, and Ultra plans in the US. Claude's post on 5 November 2026 says that US rollout is gradual.

You sign in at your own bank through Plaid, which Anthropic describes as a service that connects apps to banks. You agree to the terms shown there and approve read-only access. Anthropic says Claude does not ask for or see your bank password. On the accounts you choose, Claude sees the bank name, account name, type, last four digits, balances, credit limits, and up to two years of transactions.

Personal Finance shows up as an entry in Claude's sidebar. Anthropic calls that space the Personal Finance hub. Anthropic's announcement says chats in that hub are not used to train Anthropic's models, that chats outside the hub follow your privacy settings, and that unlinking an account means Claude can no longer see that account's data. Anthropic points to its Privacy Center for more detail. Anthropic has not named supported banks, which Claude app shows the sidebar, other plans, a separate fee, or a general-availability date.

How to try it

When Personal Finance appears in the sidebar, open it, connect one account, and ask one question. Anthropic suggests asking whether a spring trip is affordable or how much you could save each month. Setup steps and how your data is used and kept are in the Help Center.

What Anthropic says is next

Anthropic calls Personal Finance a first step. For larger decisions, Anthropic says it is exploring Claude working alongside licensed professionals and regulated firms, and it invites banks, wealth managers, and financial services companies to help shape that.
